Quiz night a big hit in Cusco

Things have been getting quizzical in Cusco with the recent launch of a weekly pub quiz to raise money for the Globalteer Peru Community Project’s after-school education programme in the Andean village of Oropesa.

The pub quiz is the loving creation of the Globalteer team in Peru who decided that Cusco needed a regular community-based event to bring people together. And what better way to do this than combining a weekly trivia night with an ongoing fundraiser for the Peru Community Project!

The quiz, which has been going for six weeks, attracts a range of trivia fiends, volunteers, expats and backpackers each week and has already raised hundreds of dollars for the project.

Laura Hoskins, the project’s coordinator, explains the event’s appeal:

“While there are a lot of things to do in Cusco, there really isn’t much variety in night life or special events such as this.”

“We’ve had a fantastic turnout so far, with everyone super keen to help raise money for the wonderful work of the Peru Community Project, and we hope to continue this for many months to come!”

“I also want to say thank you to all of our volunteers here in Cusco who have been strongly supporting the event.”

A range of local businesses are also on board and have donated a range of delicious and fun prizes for the weekly raffle, which have gone down a treat with participants.

If you are in Cusco, then definitely come down on Thursdays to The Cross Keys Pub just off the Plaza de Armas and join in on the fun!
