On the 5th December, we're celebrating everything our volunteers do for International Volunteer Day. We’re sharing inspiring stories, videos, facts and more on the impact that Globalteer volunteers have made. We believe it’s so important to be an impactful volunteer, which is why our commitment to responsible volunteering is vital - so that our projects feel the benefits AND our volunteers can see the impact of their work.
The theme this year is #GlobalApplause – giving volunteers a hand, recognizing our volunteers worldwide and all they do in making peace and sustainable development a reality. While celebrating and “giving volunteers a hand", we also encourage everyone who has not yet volunteered to join in and take part! We want to create awareness of the impact past and current volunteers have had, but also inspire other to get on board!
We’d love for you to get involved by sharing your volunteer experiences and photos, tagging @Globalteer, using the hashtags #globalapplause #responsiblevolunteering #makearealimpact #IVD2016 and the applause emoji!
Note: International Volunteer Day (IVD), on December 5th, was designated by the United Nations in 1985 as an international observance day to celebrate the power and potential of volunteerism. It is an opportunity for volunteers, and volunteer organizations, to raise awareness of, and gain recognition for, the contribution they make to their communities.
