Sports Project Manager

Jared Cahners

Jared, originally from the United States, joined the team as our Project Manager. Jared is already an expert on Cambodian life, having lived in several places and worked in many roles throughout the country. He first came to Cambodia to research his PhD in Anthropology, but quickly realised academic life was not for him. Since then, he has tried out several roles, including corporate research, casino management and education.

Throughout all his roles, one thing has remained constant: his love of sport and his passion for promoting it, especially Ultimate Frisbee and Disc Golf. It is what made him well known in Siem Reap. As an Ultimate athlete, he has competed in multiple world championship tournaments, and as a coach he has worked with Cambodia’s Women’s Club team since its inception. Now that he and Globalteer have found each other, he is excited to share his love of sport with young Cambodians, giving them athletic opportunities they would not otherwise have had.

Head Sports Coach

Kong Lak

Kong Lak sports coach

Kong Lak worked as a cook at Eat Khmer restaurant for two years, then spent seven years as a housekeeper at Angkor Hospital for Children. He came across Globalteer just when he was ready for a more challenging job. He is now our Head Sports Coach, teaching not only the children but also aspiring coaches, and helping to spread the programme to other schools. His motivation is seeing the kids in his village get a real chance to show their talents.

Sports Coach

Un Sokhim

Sokhim is originally from far-off Preah Vihear province but now calls Siem Reap home. She has played sports all her life, especially soccer, competing at provincial level. She loves teaching her students and hopes to keep doing it for the rest of her life. When she isn’t teaching, she is probably doing homework for her university law classes or, of course, playing soccer.

Soriya is 23 and comes from Siem Reap province, not far from the school. She loves teaching sports because of the independence she feels on the field and the joy of being outside. She values the skills she has gained working with Globalteer and is excited to take them into future teaching roles. When she’s not teaching, she sells food at her family’s shop and sells clothes online.
