Volunteer at the Sports Project

If you love sport, love getting to know other cultures, and want to combine the two in a uniquely rewarding way, then volunteering with the Globalteer Sports Project is probably for you. You don’t have to be a trained coach but you do need to be passionate about sport, full of energy, and have a strong desire to bring the benefits of sport to the most enthusiastic kids you are likely to meet.

What do sports volunteers do?

When volunteering with us you will take on a role that is so much more than just coaching sports. Our goal is to use sports to impact local communities. Whilst with us you will be a coach, a tutor, a designer, and a role model.

Along with coaching sessions, you will be involved in planning and designing new and exciting games for the children to play. You will assist and host sports for social impact sessions with us (don’t worry - full training and support is provided) and you will also be able to help us design courses for children to participate in.

Volunteers typically support our local staff by helping out with the sports sessions at various NGOs. You will also be able to assist on weekends with the sports coaching sessions and running the tournaments and leagues.

How can I apply to be a sports volunteer?

Our parent organisation, Globalteer, organises volunteer placements on our behalf. Click here to learn more about volunteering or interning.

"My time spent volunteering in Siem Reap, Cambodia, with Globalteer was one of the most eye-opening and inspiring experiences I've had. It allowed me to see parts of the area that I wouldn't have been able to as a tourist, and coaching sports to the children offered me a chance to interact with locals and engage in their culture." - John, UK, volunteered for 7 weeks helping to coach sports
