Child Education Support at Helping Hands Cambodia

Education That Creates Opportunity

Education is one of the most effective ways to drive long-term change. Helping Hands supports children and young adults in Cambodia through structured learning programmes, practical skills training, and opportunities to build a brighter future. As a non-profit working with vulnerable children in Siem Reap, we provide education, nutrition, and protection—helping them develop strong foundations and reach their full potential.

What is our Education Program in Cambodia?

Helping Hands Cambodia currently supports over 350 students aged 4 to 20. Our programme runs five days a week outside of government school hours, offering both pre- and after-school support. It provides a stable and supportive environment where children living in poverty can learn and grow.

For many students, financial constraints and limited access to education present significant barriers. Our programme helps overcome these challenges by supporting the government school curriculum while also offering additional classes to broaden students’ knowledge and skills. In a safe and encouraging space, students are able to develop, engage, and reach their potential.

Core Subjects and Learning Areas

Our plan aims for balanced growth in academics, creativity, and physical health. It helps students build skills for studying, working, and living. Students learn through:

1.

Khmer literacy and math work in order to enhance reading, writing, and introductory math.

2.

Communication, continued learning, and employment in the future.

3.

General creativity, fine motor, recreation, expressions, and arts.

4.

Sports and music help grow belief, team building, discipline, and physical fitness.

Students also engage in voluntary work in Cambodia to build awareness and skills. This integrated strategy keeps students occupied and helps in personal growth and achievement.

How Do Life Skills, Health, and Well-being Support Students?

In Helping Hands, education does not just remain academic, but it also provides the students with life skills, health education, and habits that will support them to live on their own and in a healthy way. Thus, Students build skills in:

  • Caring, decision-making, and problem-solving life skills
  • Managing obstacles and making good decisions/self-awareness
  • Good habits that they are learning develop into long-term independence and growth.

This is a key component of child education support, preparing a child for life afterward.

How Do We Support Students Beyond School?

Helping Hands are with learners as they progress through their educational careers. We know that all young people have their goals and strengths, and we are trying to find ways for them to express these.

University Scholarships

At Helping Hands, 10 young people every year are given the chance of a university scholarship due to their hard work and desire to return to education. The grant funds those very real financial obstacles to attending the college and following their dream of studying.

As a result, the scholarship covers all of the basic support, including school fees and supplies, and emergency health care. It takes the burden off students so they can focus on education and achieve goals. Those wishing to sponsor a student can give to scholarships directly.

What Vocational Training Paths Are Available for Students?

Not every student can pursue higher education. To the person who is seeking a job that is skill-based and practical, Helping Hands helps in getting and availing vocational training.

We partner with the hospitality and training schools of Siem Reap to help the students find their vocational path in relation to their interests and skills. Some also take part in volunteering in Cambodia, which may result in gainful employment and livelihood stability.

Application Support and Ongoing Guidance

We offer personal help so that students can get education and training journeys that are hassle-free and all the way to the end. Our support covers:

  • Support on application requirements and paperwork
  • Help during the enrolment and admissions processes
  • Regular progress updates and follow-ups with students
  • Ongoing mentoring throughout studies or training

This aid assures students undertaking university or vocational training that they have an exit, with practical skills, beliefs, and goals in their lives.

Why Education Matters?

Education is vital in building lasting, positive change among groups and kids. It includes personal growth, financial prosperity, and the future. Through education, we help:

Build trust and belief in children and young adults.
