How Are Students’ Journeys Changing Lives in Cambodia?

At Helping Hands Cambodia, each story shows how supporting child education can change lives. From building trust to reaching further education, these stories show a real and lasting impact.

1.Reaksmey: From Shy Student to Future Coach

I would like to become a coach one day, so I can help other kids like me. In sport, Reaksmey found a sense of trust, meaning, and drive. However, his skills, as a shy student, to a young role model, show how our dedicated coaches can change a life.

2.From Enrollment to Graduation

Graduation numbers peak in post-COVID recovery years (notably 22 graduates in 2021), showing the program’s ability to keep and re-engage students through ongoing community volunteering.

3.University Pathways Are Growing

Since 2014, we have awarded scholarships often. Hence, these awards enable first-generation college students to create a huge effect for their families and groups.

4.Nutrition Drives Presence

An average of 21,700+ breakfasts per year shows Helping Hands’ belief that learning starts with health. Peaks in 2022–2023 align with recovery and grew engagement, helped in part by volunteer abroad Cambodia programs.

5.Increasing Self-Sufficiency

The growth in vegetable production has steadily increased to 1,000+ kg in 2024, improving food safety. Hence, this reduced program cost is another key sign of stability to donors.

6.Financial Openness & Scale

Expenditure per year is still in close link to income. Hence, the sharp rise in 2024 shows a scaling of the programs, not a cost rise. Thus, this is a sign of trust in the program by the donor and program growth.

Real Change Through Education

These stories show the impact of regular support for children. With access to education, nutrition, and guidance, children build trust and create positive change in their communities. Programs that offer the chance to support education in Cambodia or teach English highlight the true value of community action in creating lasting change.
