Coronavirus Update

March 20th, 2020

Coronavirus Update for Volunteers.

In these uncertain times we want to assure our volunteers and supporters that Globalteer has been closely monitoring the situation with COVID-19.

The health and safety of our volunteers, interns, staff and those at the projects is our highest priority. We are monitoring both safety advice and travel advice for various countries worldwide.

Many governments have banned or restricted travel; either completely or to & from certain areas. Many airports have also implemented more stringent screening measures for arrivals into the country. Additionally, many countries have now imposed quarantine for people arriving from abroad or complete country wide quarantines.

We are in constant contact with our projects to keep up to date on local situations and how it affects the project's operations. If there are any project closures or quarantine rules that directly affect volunteer placements, we are contacting affected volunteers directly.

What Should Volunteers Do?
Keep up to date with the information!

As we have volunteers from all around the world and projects is several locations, we are not posting updates based on locations as these are changing too regularly, and we don’t want to give anyone outdated information.

You should monitor updates and advice from your governments travel advisory board. You should also check for updates on your destination, to see what the local situation is (e.g: quarantines, travel restrictions, changed entry requirements etc).

We advise that all volunteers follow the up-to-date information and advice from their own countries' governments regarding safety while travelling abroad. Here are some links to government foreign travel advise.

United States of America -

If you are currently abroad!

For those currently abroad, please talk to your embassies to get the latest advice to keep yourself safe. For those volunteers whose travel has been affected by travel advice or travel bans, please discuss your options with your embassy!

If there are restrictions affecting your travels!

If governments are putting restrictions on travel, either your own government or the government to the countries that you are travelling, then we highly recommend that you contact your airline to discuss your options. You should also contact your travel insurance company for information on whether you will be covered. Globalteer will help in any way to assist in successful insurance claims. Insurance companies are able to read our terms of service, but we are also able to provide letters in support of travel insurance claims when requested.

Need to change your start date?

If you wish postpone your placement then send us an email at [email protected] to discuss changing your start date.

Will placements be cancelled?

We do not have any plans to cancel our projects. However, if some local situations (e.g: temporary project closures in line with local restrictions) affect any volunteer placement we will contact you directly to arrange an alternative solution.
