Their visit was filled with joy, learning, and connection as they spent time teaching, playing, and sharing with more than 50 children who are part of our program. In addition to their time and enthusiasm, Pipers Corner made a generous donation of computers, enabling us to launch computer classes for the children at Picaflor House. Thanks to their incredible support, we were able to repair and set up the donated computers, hire a dedicated computer teacher, and install internet access at our school in Oropesa — a rural community just outside Cusco.
These new classes are helping children develop essential digital skills that will not only improve their academic performance but also narrow the gap between rural and urban students. In today’s world, digital literacy opens doors to future educational and professional opportunities — empowering these children to dream bigger and achieve more.
Access to Technology
In Peru, especially in rural communities, access to technology and digital education remains limited. Many children in these areas have little to no exposure to computers or the internet at home, which makes school-based access crucial. By learning how to use technology, students can explore a world of knowledge beyond their local surroundings — from science and art to languages and global communication. These skills are essential for helping them keep pace with the modern world and participate fully in an increasingly digital society.
Digital education also helps strengthen their critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, giving them tools to pursue higher education and future careers in areas that were once out of reach. For many of our students, these computer classes represent not just a new subject, but a new horizon of possibilities.
The children were excited and curious during their first computer class — a moment that showed just how meaningful this gift will be for their growth and learning journey. The donated computers are already becoming powerful tools for nurturing their curiosity, creativity, and love for learning.
We extend our deepest gratitude to Pipers Corner School for their generosity, kindness, and commitment to education. Your visit and donation have made a lasting impact on the children of Picaflor House and the entire community of Oropesa.
Thank you for helping us create brighter futures through education, connection, and opportunity.
