A lot of international volunteering programmes get a bad press, and rightly so. The fact that you are reading this page means that you really care about making sure your volunteering has a positive impact on the communities we work with, which is why we give you our commitment that your placement will be responsible, ethical and impactful in the long term.
Since day one we have focused on making all of our volunteer placements truly responsible so you can be sure you are contributing to a meaningful cause with long-term, sustainable impact. We are members of Tourism Concern’s Ethical Volunteering Group and Associate members of Keeping Children Safe.
We have introduced detailed and robust child protection policies into many overseas projects and are one of the few volunteer organisations that insist on background checks for all staff and volunteers working with children.
The Projects we work with.
As Globalteer is a registered charity in the UK, the projects we work with have to align with our charitable objectives, which are approved by The Charities Commission. To ensure that the projects we work with are working towards the same aims as Globalteer, we carefully vet every project we work with. Once a project becomes a Globalteer partner, our teams in the field are in constant contact with them and make regular visits to make sure that they are working towards and achieving their strategic goals - and of course, that they are making the very best use of our volunteers.
We review our partnership on a regular basis but are very happy to say that we are still working with projects we have been working with since day one, right back in 2006.
