The practical bits

What It Costs and What’s Included

No placement fee

As a registered charity, we ask every intern to raise at least US$250 for our projects. We’ll set up a crowdfunding page for you on our website that you can share with friends and family, and our fundraising guide has plenty of ideas. Every donation goes to our local projects.

What’s included

Free shared accommodation and basic food for the length of your internship, plus 5 days of holiday per month to save up for trips with other interns. Most roles run for 3 to 6 months (up to 7 for the Sports Intern role), with start dates year round.

Life as an intern

What Is It Like to Intern With Globalteer?

You’ll work as part of our local team, not on the sidelines. Depending on your role, that could mean planning activities at Picaflor House, helping at a PAWS mobile vet clinic, coaching sport in villages around Siem Reap, or writing, filming and fundraising to support the projects. Globalteer is a small British charity, so interns see how a non-profit runs day to day and often take on real responsibility.

Spending several months in Peru or Cambodia also means getting to know a very different culture, and in Peru, a new language. Employers in the international development sector value time spent working in the field, and you’ll come home with practical experience, references and plenty of stories.

Career breaks for professionals

Globalteer also welcomes professionals on a career break or sabbatical. If your skills match one of the roles above, we’d love to hear from you.

Study Spanish in Cusco

If you intern in Peru, you can take Spanish classes alongside your role. Living and working in Cusco is one of the quickest ways to improve your Spanish.
