John’s Cycling Adventure for Helping Hands!
John Connel signed up to volunteer with us for 3 weeks at the Helping Hands Community Project in April, and is helping us to raise awareness and funds for the project by taking on a 15 day cycling adventure down the length of Vietnam. The student’s, teachers and all the staff here at Helping Hands are so grateful to John for his support! Please read what John has to say below, and if you can, sponsor his amazing expedition!
"Hi all…. my name is John Connel and I live in the UK. In April l travelled to Siem Reap in Cambodia to work as a volunteer at Helping Hands, one of Globalteer's Community Projects."
"Helping Hands is a grass roots aid organisation empowering young Cambodians living in poverty to help themselves and their families. Helping Hands operates a school for 300 students in the remote village of Prasat Char where I was based for my 3 week placement. During that time, I helped the students with their English, shared a little about life in the UK and helped them set up a Composting system to support their Food and Farming projects.”
So how can you help me support this great cause...?
“On the 28th April I travelled to Hanoi in North Vietnam to start a 15 day cycling expedition to Ho Chi Minh City in South Vietnam. A total cycling distance of around 435 miles (700 Km’s). It’s going to be a challenge but one that I have been training for, in all weathers, and even with the Students at Helping Hands...”
“During my trip I would like to raise awareness and additional funds to support Globalteer and the Helping Hands Community Project. Any donation you can make, no matter how big or small, will go directly to the project and will help to make a significant impact to the Helping Hands programme and the children and community of Prasat Char!”
