Fantastic new accommodation for Cambodia Volunteers

Volunteers with Globalteer’s Siem Reap-based projects in Cambodia – Community,  Clean Water and Food & Farming - now have an additional accommodation option to choose from for their stay with us.

We know that some of our best volunteers prefer to have a few more creature comforts when they get to the end of a long, hard day working at their project, and to be honest, if you are generous enough to donate your time and money to volunteer with us, then you deserve to be as comfortable as possible during your placement!

We are therefore delighted to announce that volunteers can now choose our new ‘upgrade accommodation’ in Siem Reap. Located about 200 metres from our original volunteer accommodation and less than a quarter of a mile from Globalteer’s office, volunteers who choose to stay here will still be within easy walking distance of their volunteering colleagues and the friendly Globalteer team. The hotel is Cambodian-owned, so by staying here you will be making a contribution to the local economy too!

Included in the price...

So, what do you get with your upgrade? Well, the new hotel has a good-sized swimming pool with sun terracing and sun loungers – perfect for cooling off after a hot day at your project, something that any past volunteer will tell you is a real bonus, especially in the hot season.

There is a comfortable poolside bar – with happy hour – and a smart little restaurant which serves breakfast (included in your volunteer donation), lunch and dinner, with a good variety of reasonably priced Cambodian and international dishes. There is also an on-site spa if your muscles really need some therapy after a day “in the field”!

Rooms are spacious with large beds, cable TV, free wi-fi, in-room safe, tea and coffee making facilities and a mini bar, and the ensuite shower rooms are modern and spotlessly clean. Air-conditioning comes as standard – there are no surcharges to pay here. Rooms also have a desk which is great for planning your volunteer sessions, or writing postcards or journals…if anyone does that any more!

Filling in your down-time

The hotel also has a tour desk where you can organise excursions and trips for your free time or weekends. Although you may well want to just stay out and recharge the batteries in time for the next week! If you do decide to stay in Siem Reap and enjoy more of what this friendly town has to offer, there is a fleet of tuk-tuk drivers at your disposal at all times. The pretty Old Market area and lively Pub Street are about five minutes away and the entrance to the Angkor Archaeological Park is about fifteen minutes away.

Whilst we acknowledge that the number one reason our volunteers come to Siem Reap is to help out at our projects, we hope that this new option will encourage more people to take the plunge, particularly those who have wonderful skills and experience to offer but may not be accustomed to travelling in the developing world. If that sounds like you then please apply for one of our Siem Reap Projects today!
