InsuranceWhy you should buy travel insurance
Finding the right insurance to cover your travels can be daunting, confusing and time-consuming, however – travel insurance is a must. You never know what could happen, and if you are unlucky enough to get ill or find yourself in a sticky situation, being uninsured can be really expensive and downright dangerous.
In developing countries reliable healthcare and emergency treatment can be hard to find, and extremely expensive for foreigners. You don’t even want to think about how much it would cost if you had be flown home for hospital treatment. This is why we strongly recommend that all our volunteers take out suitable travel insurance. We also recommend that your purchase your insurance and soon as you book your trip to cover you for all up-front costs in the event of cancellation due to any unforeseen circumstances.
Helping you get the right insurance
To help make getting insured easier we have formed a partnership with StudentUniverse. They work with leading travel insurance provider Cover-More. Together they have developed a range of policies and insurance products that provide comprehensive protection, giving you complete peace of mind to enjoy every moment of your trip.
Cover-More have over 20 years of experience with travel insurance, with over 10 million satisfied policyholders to date. Cover starts from as little as £29/$37*! When purchasing your insurance, make sure it covers all of the activities you will be doing or you may want to do during your travels – this includes whether you will be coming in to contact with wild animals or participating in extreme sports. Read your policy carefully and take a copy of them when you travel.
And even better, if you purchase an insurance policy from Student Universe, they will also make a donation to Globalteer and the many projects we support.
